7/10/08 - Near Redding, California

We left Mineral and drove to Bear Mountain Resort near Redding. David and Lorna rented a cabin near our trailer. We went to Whiskeytown – Trinity – Shasta NRA. We visted the Whiskeytown section. When we arrived, we found the recreation areas were closed due to fires started in June from a lightning strike. They were still trying to extinguish them. Governor Arnold had visited the park last week. We found a place to swim that the ranger recommended. While we were swimming, planes flew over and they were dropping pink stuff on the fires. We also saw helicopters with water buckets on long cables.
