7/9/08 - Mineral, California

David, Lorna, Jim and I drove into Lassen Volcanic National Park. Lassen is an active thermal park similar to Yellowstone. Mount Lassen last erupteded in 1915. We went on a 3 mile round trip hike to Bumpass Hell. There are steam holes, mud pots and fumaroles still active. The stench of sulfur is overwhelming. We had dinner at the hotel/rv park café. Then we made a camp fire and roasted marshmallows.
