7/31/08 - Mount Ranier National Park, Washington

We left Olympia and drove to Mount Rainier National Park. After we got a space and set up, we drove around a little. The mountain top was covered by clouds and all you could see was the bottom half. The mountain produces it’s own weather --it can change from hour to hour. We stopped at a couple of waterfalls and visited the Henry M. Jackson visitor center in Paradise. (Paradise is the section of the national park that most people visit and has a hotel dating from early 1900). Jim went to a Ranger Rick talk about climbing Mt. Rainer. Earlier in the day we came across a road side vendor selling cherries which are in season up here. So, we had vanilla frozen yogurt with fresh cherries for a late night snack. Yum Yum!
